I don't understand why we are trying to use batteries to store electrical power when they are potentially environmentally hazardous, use materials not readily available in some cases, are not well developed and are limited life devices. It appears to me that flywheels would be a much simpler solution, are well understood, life times could be virtually unlimited, and development would continue on them as well. But most important, they could be ready now.
