It's amazing how easy it is to overlook the obvious -- or forget the basics.  Without a good supply of electrons, nothing much goes anywhere predictably.

I have seen this happen on PCs when the power supply starts to fail. Users assume hard drives, memory and even motherboards are failing. I have learned that when lots of unexpected things start happening to suspect the power supply.

Very cool find and an excellent example of how complex systems fail in complex ways.  There were several conditions that needed to take place before this error finally flowered.
