Amazing that the dealer gave you full price - would not expect that to happen on a regular basis.
Had a similar problem on a 240 Z with a broken head gasket. Coolant would fill the cylinder, hard to crank then eventually started. No bent rods though
Interesting that the addition of water actually improved my mileage, had to fill the coolant every time I fueled. And I am not fueling.
Fixed it eventually as I know oil does not mix with water, or better put, it emulsifies.
Kind of like a gas/steam powered car or Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang...
This is definitely a first for our Made By Monkeys column! The norm is to have the offending manufacturer come back with some excuse and then make the consumer with the broken product pay for a new part/upgrade.
Doug, I agree that's amazing. The story was good, but that was the best part. The dealer really took it on the chin, and the problems were not the dealer's fault.
