Good point Dave. That's why I thought this story was important. It shows a major commitment from Kohlberg to expand Phillips, not take it apart. The acquisition is particularly interesting because it signals a new, more modern, direction for this great, almost iconic, American manufacturing company.

Hopefully this is the right decision for Phillips. So often, when ownership of a company changes hands from a dictatorial founder-leader to an investment company, the investment company winds up running things into the ground.
