Ulinx UHR 40x USB Isolator
B&B Electronics' rugged one-port Ulinx UHR401 and two-port Ulinx UHR402 USB isolators are designed to isolate and protect connected equipment from surges, spikes, and electrostatic discharges carried on USB cable. Unlike consumer-grade USB hubs, Ulinx hubs are built to withstand industrial networking hazards like shock, drop, vibration, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and temperature extremes. They are equipped with high retention ports that hold USB cables firmly in place to eliminate data loss, and in extreme cases, the risk for fire caused by loose cables and arcing.

Applications include medical applications requiring 60601-1 certification, industrial control and manufacturing, remote sensing and remote metering, instrumentation, point-of-sale, test and measurement, and laboratory information systems (LIMS).

Key features include: temperature range of -40C to 80C; level 4 ESD protection (15 kV air, 8 kV contact); 4 kV isolation between upstream and downstream USB ports; downstream ports provide full 500 mA power to connected devices; high retention ports require 3.2 lb of force to dislodge a cable.

Awesome Venue for Technology Accomplishments

What a great way to bring these technological accomplishments to the forefront - I really appreciate a venue that allows hardworking designers creating innovative products to showcase their efforts and there is some fantastic work here. I was thinking it would be really neat to do this at another level with high school kids. We already have science fairs and robotic competitions but wouldn't it be cool for sponsoring companies to help budding engineers actually bring their inventions to the marketplace?

Congrats to the winners in every category, and thanks to Rich, Al Schmidt, Jenn, Lauren, and everyone else who made it all go smoothly. Punya Prakash completely deserved the RES award. I admit I voted for her, but to meet her in person and see her gracious and inspiring acceptance speech was an amazing experience. I think we've started something big and I'm glad to have been there.
