Honeywell Sensing and Control's TruStability board-mount pressure sensors offer a wide range of mechanical interfaces, mounting styles, and I/O options that enable medical device designers to select the right interface and package to reduce board space. These sensors also are fully compensated, calibrated, and amplified, which reduces component count and costs. A liquid media compatible option also is available. (Source: Honeywell)
Excellent update. The medical device market is definitely focusing on smaller, portable designs that need small size components and low power. Good overview of sensor technology used in these applications. Thanks.
Great article. I especially like the discussion on lower power. As medical device sizes shrink, the demand for more mobility will increase which will then prompt the demand for low voltage and low power requirements for longer battery lives.
Shrinking medical devices will help to provide the advancements of modern technology to an aging population to access medical service both in and out of the hospital environment. It will be great if sensor generated data, of critical patient requiring frequent attention, is made available to doctor on their smart phones. This will help doctor to treat patient from anywhere and at anytime.
In a move that strengthens its 3D design business, Stratasys continued a 15-month buying spree this week by announcing its plan to acquire GrabCAD, a provider of a cloud-based collaboration environment for engineers.
Many diverse markets take advantage of semiconductor IP; so many that no one can recite the entire list without leaving off several. So why do we track all the vertical markets? They all have a unique set of requirements and value attributes differently. One major vertical market segment is automotive.
