If you are using a Proficy Historian data collection and analysis system from GE Intelligent Platforms, you can log data from a View HMI to Machine Edition View Data Collector. A Collector is a central data collection node in a Historian system that gathers data from one or more data sources and sends it to a central Historian Server.
Thanks Bobjengr. From my understanding, the touchscreen is a dumb terminal, effectively. But it can manage data from disparate sources -- as in data from the historian. So, assuming the plant has Six Sigma and CpK for processes, I would think the touchscreen could bring the data forward for viewing on the run.

I am also assuming there are statistical packages available to calculate Six Sigma and CpK for processes. Is this correct? Good information.
Actually, Taimoortariq, this touch screen is build robust. that's a good thing, since I would guess it sometimes gets balanced on a knee while the users fiddles with other controls. It better have strong drop resistance.
Yes, I agree that will certainly help to store all the data and the satistics of the plant performances. Though concentrating all the essential data in one place makes it even more essential to have a reliable & secure system, specially when it would be having an access to the outside world.
