I think it's time to call it a day for GM. Really it's not surprising anymore. It would be a surprise if a week went buy where they didn't have to recall one of their vehicles.

Yes, I think PR is one of the realities of the car business, Nadine. Cole also said there would be a flood of these recalls coming up and it turns out that he nailed it: Ford announced over a million recalls last week.

@NadineJ: Strange isn't it after all being such a big company they opted for their own benefit rather than its customers. I think it's a mistake in their strategies.

Calling for such a petty negligence of spare Tyre placement is criminal. For me these recalls are coming like a surprise. How come such big giants in automobile field make such mistakes and the consumers faces difficulty. Beside the approving authority has 2 b careful enough and cater petty points 2 before allowing it 2 hit the market.

I think the nature of the recalls from GM says more about their company culture than any fault of engineering.  The quote from David Cole shows that things haven't progressed.  It seems to be more about pr than consumer safety.

Toyota Motor on Thursday recalled 370,000 Sienna minivans -- most of those a second time -- because the spare tire mounted under the vehicle might fall off and crash into following traffic.

And it recalled 10,500 2013-model Lexus GS 350 sedans because the cars, without warning or driver involvement, could suddenly apply the brakes and not illuminate the brake lights to warn following drivers.
