critical but but often least recognized component of a system

Very interesting solution to the challenging of wiring with some good options. As a test engineer, I had a deep appreciation for one of our technicians that had gained a reputation as being able to neatly organize wiring in the test sets we were building. It is a little thought about yet extremely important task. I remember at one place i worked (out of business now), they had fiber optic cables running across the floor and chairs and scope carts with wheels - I remember cringing the first time I went down to the lab. Wiring is very important and indeed challenging - almost as much art as science. Working in the test equipment group, we were building in-house test sets which may not sound difficult to maintain since it is designed and built in-house and used in-house and typically each test set is unique - but people come and go and years pass and then it's "hey - let's modify this test set or upgrade that test set" and consistent and understandable wiring schemes make the task much easier. And yes - those adhesives mounts are tempting because they are quick and easy but very annoying when the adhesive degrades to the point of no longer holding...

Cable management is indeed a facet that can make or break large networks but so is cable labeling. 

Solidworks Electrical can also let you simulate cable layouts virtually. Check into that...

@greg: Any idea about the thickness of the cable ? Also how secure is it ?

Really like the push-on cable tie mount that has to be unscrewed to remove.  Quick way to install in a manufacturing environment, but secure enough in the field to retain the cables.
