Txelite, definitely Wireless signals are harmfull but these days we are living in the world of wireless signals only . And at times there are situations which we cant avoid as well.

A 9th grade science project showed that certain plants will not grow around Wi-Fi radiation, so it's safe (no pun intended) to say that it does have an effect on human cells to some extent.

Well I'm kinda sceptic about this text... Why haven't I heard of Zigbee before? Is it because it is still incompatible and insecure?

High Levels of RF electromagnetic radiation (EMR) exposure will cause significant heating and damage to human tissue. The US military developed a non-lethal weapon using a beam of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) for crowd control, videos are on youtube.

In Australia the ACMA's regulatory arrangements for wireless devices make mandatory the exposure limits set by ARPANSA RF Standard, which are designed to protect people against all known adverse health effects.

Although Zigbee networks support 128-bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) encryption.

"It is reasonably clear that the classical encryption methods we are using today are going to become insecure in the long term,"

Physicist Vadim Makarov of the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo

Because of the low transmit power feature, ZigBee is potentially vulnerable to the interferences introduced by RF technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Wireless USB, cordless phone.

There are certain disadvantages of this zigbee network like it can be confusing initially for the home owners, replacement with zigbee complaint appliances can be costly and many more but definitely with every technology there are advantages and disadvantages associated .

Thanks alot for such an informative post ,Zigbee makes different compliances work on the same network, It helps to manage home appliance network remotely, It eliminates dependance on infrared devices.

It's all down to price for me in this arena.  As a former X10 user, I'd love to update to newer home automation technology, but there simply is no way that I'm paying $40+ dollars for each node as the devices are currently priced.  I'm not even willing to pay $20 for each node.  The price has to come down before there will be widespread adoption.

Is the factory smarter than it used to be? From recent buzzwords, you’d think we’ve entered a new dimension in industrial plants, where robots run all physical functions wirelessly and humans do little more than program ever more capable robotics. Some of that is actually true, but it’s been true for a while.
The big picture to this hands-on technology curriculum is to illustrate to students that the future of IoT and IoE (Internet of Everything) development can be created in today’s classroom.
A recent Design News-exclusive study proves that engineering professionals are at the very forefront of this push into the future and making direct financial, performance, and value impact on their organizations by being personally involved or final decision-makers on automation solution and component choices.
