The trends you mentioned in your article are definitely the focus of most manufacturing facilities regarding motors and drives. The most popular trends industrial manufacturers are interested in consist of VFDs and decentralized controls. I personally like the idea of having the controller packaged with the motor or drive because of ease of setup, troubleshooting, and quick performance status indicators. ABB has always been an innovator within the industrial controls space and by the look of their new motor and drive product line will definitely be a leader in the years to come. Great article Al!

Interesting points regarding VFDs and industrial controllers as whole. Agree with ABB being an industry leader in the Industrial Controls space as well.

I agree. Also, PACs along with VFDs make for a compact Motion Control solution for industrial processing and assembly systems as well.
