How do I earn IEEE Professional Development Hours?

Welcome to the Digi-Key Continuing Education Center! Starting with the first course of 2014, registrants of the Digi-Key Continuing Education Center are now eligible to earn IEEE Professional Development Hours by attending courses and participating in the chat function. In 2014, the Digi-Key Continuing Education Center no longer uses a points system, graduation, or gives grades.

So, how do you earn the IEEE Professional Development Hours? You will qualify for 10 IEEE Professional Development Hours when you fulfill all three of the following criteria:

  1. Attend 2 courses live during a semester (a semester is 6 months in length. January through June of 2014 is one semester and July through December of 2014 is one semester. There are 12 courses per semester)
  2. Attend 4 out of the 5 classes per course
  3. Participate in the chat function every day you attend

You must attend a minimum of 2 courses live to receive IEEE Professional Development Hours, but you can attend more courses and earn more hours as follows:

  • If you attend 3 courses and fulfill all of the above criteria, you will receive 15 hours.
  • If you attend 4 courses and fulfill all of the above criteria, you will receive 20 hours.
  • If you attend 5 courses and fulfill all of the above criteria, you will receive 25 hours.
  • If you attend 6 courses and fulfill all of the above criteria, you will receive 30 hours.
  • If you attend 7 courses and fulfill all of the above criteria, you will receive 35 hours.
  • If you attend 8 courses and fulfill all of the above criteria, you will receive 40 hours.
  • If you attend 9 courses and fulfill all of the above criteria, you will receive 45 hours.

  • If you attend 11 courses and fulfill all of the above criteria, you will receive 55 hours.
  • If you attend 12 courses and fulfill all of the above criteria, you will receive 60 hours.

The IEEE Professional Development Hours can not be earned if you attend the archived version of the course. You must attend it live.

A certificate for the IEEE Professional Development Hours will be emailed to you as a PDF file within 2 months of the semester end date (semester end dates are 6/30/14 and 12/31/14).

IMPORTANT: In order to receive the certificate, you must complete a course evaluation form within two weeks of the last day of each course you attend.

The Continuing Education Center offers engineers an entirely new way to get the education they need to formulate next-generation solutions.
