Elizabeth, This is a very interesting development.  We can only guess at what technology the Vector Engine will use to control DC motors in higher performance/flexible applications. Did you get a sense of the timeframe and introduction date?  Thanks.

I think sometime in 2014, apresher--I think that is what is on the roadmap Toshiba provided. There may be a bit more on the website.

This is an important story, Liz. All of the big MCU makers are looking at ways to create more energy-efficent devices even, as you point out, in motor control.

Thanks, Chuck. Yes, it definitely seems like energy-efficiency is a top design goal for component makers and device makers alike, which is why we're seeing these sort of innovations as well as a lot of work in the ultra-low-power and energy-harvesting space.
