Design News, your daily source of essential business and technical information for the design engineering and electronics industry's decision makers, has been named one of the "10 Great Media Websites" by BtoB's Media Business in the "Tech" category.
For more than 65 years, Design News has served as the premier technical resource for design engineers throughout the manufacturing sector. We are a community site for systems-level design engineers, electromechanical engineers, and engineers of all disciplines. Our editorial focuses on how engineers apply technology in end applications through case studies, how-to content, end-user examples, and community-generated content.
Design News brand director Rich Nass told us:
Design News has a rich history with the design engineering community. We've created a community site to serve the 21st century design engineer and help them to do their jobs better. This honor is a testament to the hard work of the site's [2011] redesign. Karen Field and Alexander Wolfe drove the content vision, and Chris Williams spearheaded the new technology platform. We've also been honored alongside many well-known brands in the media marketplace such as the Financial Times, Forbes, and the American Lawyer. Congratulations to the entire Design News team.
The website brings the audience into the conversation through moderated discussions, blogs, and social media, giving users equal share of voice with content experts. With a streamlined design, contextual navigation, and sponsored educational materials, Design News guides design engineers to the information they need, creating an opportunity for the community to collaborate, share ideas, and experiences. In addition, DesignNews.com delivers a full suite of multimedia content, including video and audio, and enables a deeper level of engagement by design engineers.
Congrats to the Design News staff. I'm not surprised by this recognition. This has been a year of big changes at Design News. Karen, Alex and Chris have completely revamped the website. A lot of the work behind the scenes was done by Jennifer Campbell and Lauren Muskett. Congrats also to Chuck, Ann, Beth, Jon and all of the contributing editors.
When the opportunity to become a moderator was presented, I immediately jumped at it. I like the variety of technical and business content this website brings to the design community. I'm glad I have this opportunity to bring my own personal engineering experiences to the community through moderating and I enjoy the engagement with editors and engineers on this site. Congrats on receiving the award, you guys deserve it!
Congrats to you, too, Rob. Considering that this magazine was 50 years old when it went online (1996), this shows that Design News has some pretty good staying power.
My heartily congrats to Design news and those who are work hard behind the curtain. It's a group effort and everybody is a part of this success. I feels produce to be one of the member in such a community.
Congratulations! Very well deserved. Amid all of the successful online content dedicated to other sectors such as entertainment and politics, "tech" news is often dominated by consumer electronics and software development. DesignNews does a fantastic job of recognizing the tenets of elegant design across the varied range of technological research and development. So glad to learn that others appreciate this too! =]
That's great news mrdon! We look forward to receiving your project. Gadget Freak has long been a successful program here at Design News, and it just keeps getting better with age. Tell me, what are some of your favorite projects that we have featured?
Thanks much, Rob, but we certainly couldn't have acheived what we have in the past year without the tireless efforts of our writers/contributors. Congratulations to all of you, you know who you are, and a big thank you for making Design News such a great success!
Congratulations! Design News is an amazing platform for thoughtful interchange on a diverse number of topics, making it a goto resource regardless of your engineering specialty. The content is typically very thought provoking and allows us to see perspectives from many different facets of industry and I have certainly been enrichened by the content to be found on the Design News website. We appreciate all of you who work so hard to make Design News the awesome forum that it is!
