Imaging's Matrox GatorEye GigE Vision industrial
camera now offers 3D capabilities. For
triangulation-based 3D digitizing applications, the Matrox GatorEye extracts
the laser line in an image to sub-pixel accuracy and produces the corresponding
positional depth/height array. Only the resulting array is transmitted, which
lightens the load on the Gigabit Ethernet link and PC. The PC can then focus on
other tasks, including 3D measurement and analysis. The industrial camera
has a IP67 rating and is designed for harsh environments.
Imagine being able to illegally download a physical product the same way you can with music and video. The advent of desktop, home, and prosumer 3D printers is having huge repercussions in the intellectual property domain.
