EC22 Heavy Duty motor is a 22 mm-diameter brushless motor. The electronically
commutated EC22 heavy duty motor is designed to operate at depths of around
16,000 ft and in boreholes up to 36,000 ft long.
The motor operates
at temperatures up to 240C and under atmospheric pressure conditions from high
vacuum to 25,000 psi. It has also been proven to resist impulse and impact
forces of 100G. It can operate while submerged in oil, trebling its 80W output
rating to 240W because of the improved heat dissipation.
efficiency of 88 percent in air, and above 70 percent in oil, makes it useful
for battery-powered applications.
This year, Design News is getting a head start on the Fourth of July celebration. In honor of our country and its legacy of engineering innovation -- in all of its forms -- we are taking you on an alphabetical tour through all 50 states to showcase interesting engineering breakthroughs and historically significant events.
Earlier this year paralyzed IndyCar drive Sam Schmidt did the seemingly impossible -- opening the qualifying rounds at Indy by driving a modified Corvette C7 Stingray around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
