Dodge's "Get
Energized about Energy" column in the August 11 issue as well as Design
News' exhaustive hydrogen
fuel cell vehicle and fueling infrastructure package.
Bravo! There is no reason not to pursue fuel cells; free inquiry is essential for human discovery and the innovation needed for survival.
The irrational part is the extent to which it is mandated by arbitrary Government proclamation and subsidy.
Engineers must realize that erroneous assumptions are turning this 'Green'
campaign (formerly cleanliness and safety) to the notion that 365 ppm CO2 will cause Global Warming! Where is the basic chemistry that shows that 99% of the atmosphere, N2 and O2 , are not greenhouse gases! Further, good old water vapor, H2O dwarfs CO2 and has yet to even be studied! Also, lest we forget, CO2 is plant food.
Logic is strangely missing; no longer is proof required but rather just chance association, before panic sets in. What prey tell, caused the billions of years of climate change before SUVs and air conditioners were used? The answer is ...we do not know!
I must add that it is also illogical to proclaim that there is a shortage of energy. Magically, we are told, the solution can merely be voted that is, to get our energy on day to day basis from the sun and wind?
I will agree that we need technical solutions not political ones.
Very Sincerely submitted,
