Hollow-Shaft Gearmotors
Save space, time, and money
The hollow shaft design of the right-angle ac, dc, and bldc gearmotors optimize mountings—saving on assembly labor and reducing the number of component parts. These are driving factors to consider hollow-shaft gearmotor solutions in a wide variety of applications including conveyors, printing and packaging machinery, and medical equipment. The gearmotor's hollow output shaft can be connected directly to the driven load. This interface eliminates expensive shaft couplings, and mounting hardware that can be unsafe, bulky, and present alignment issues. Eliminating maintenance inherent with chains and sprockets is an added bonus. Hollow-shaft gearmotor solutions include left- or right-hand face or flange mounts, based on individual requirements. With continuous output torques from 5.2 to 575 lb-inch and gear ratios from 5:1 to 3,600:1, Bodine hollow-shaft right-angle gearmotors offer output speeds from less than 1 rpm to over 500 rpm. The hollow bore size depends on the gearmotor used, but is typically from 0.5 to 1 inch.

Valve System
With independent intelligent control
The new GEN2 E System takes the concept of distributed computing to the next logical step: Independent Intelligent ControlE of multiple sequential control operations. Instead of a central computer, each GEN2 valve module contains its own on-board programmed logic. This enables each module to communicate directly with other modules, both upstream and downstream, and make independent decisions based on its own individual program instructions. The system was designed for use on pneumatically powered accumulation conveyors, but the technology can be applied to non-pneumatic conveyor systems, as well as a range of sequential and proportional control applications in other industries. By eliminating the need for a central computer and its complex programming, the GEN2 E System offers a wide range of opportunities to save money and improve productivity. The quick-connect design, called Plug & RunE technology, makes installation easy by reducing assembly time. Simple menu-driven programming enables users to select options to improve product density and throughput, to reduce energy costs, and, if desired, to reconfigure the entire system without reprogramming. While the system can function without a central computer, it can be connected to the LAN to provide operators with status and diagnostic information.

Motion Feedback Encoder
Smallest sensor, includes 1 LSB optical index
Reportedly the world's smallest optical encoder to provide 50 nm resolution from the sensor, the MercuryE 1800 (M1800) digital kit encoder measures just 8.9 mm tall. It is available in two resolutions: 50 or 100 nm, linear, or up to 6.5 million CPR, rotary. All electronics are inside the sensor making the M1800 suitable for high-noise, industrial applications. This encoder's high resolution minimizes cogging for smooth motion control, while its exclusive 1-LSB optical index, which is integrated into the scale, allows system repeatability and ease of setup. With the M1800, a motion system can achieve start-up and recovery at full encoder resolution. When sensor size and performance are taken together, engineers can achieve significant space savings, cost reductions, and performance improvements by utilizing the M1800 in their designs. In addition, the same sensor operates in both linear and rotary applications, thereby minimizing inventories. Two connector options are available: The model M1800S is fitted with a standard high-density D-sub connector and is completely EMI shielded. The M1800H is equipped with a high-density microconnector for very tight spaces. Digital A-quad-B output is standard and is RS-422-compatible.
