Lazer PC multimedia acceleration cards from Lumanate provide up to a 10x real-time speed improvement for transcoding video content for devices like the iPod, iPhone, Xbox 360, Zune and others. It’s built around the ViXS XCode 3106, an MPEG4 AVC Transcoder/Encoder chipset from ViXS Systems. The chipset transcodes content to a lower bit rate, lower resolution and the various video formats of storage and portable players. The Lazer board, now an internal USB solution in Dell XPS PCs, is being prepped for retail sales.
