In launching its new generation of "IndraMotion" motion control products Bosch Rexroth (www.boschrexroth.com) decided it needed a new controller and ended up developing a small DIN-rail mounted box it calls "IndraControl." What's unusual about IndraControl is the way that it's programmed: Bosch Rexroth says it has entered into a strategic partnership with Smart Software Solutions (3S) (www.3s-software.com) which will provide its IEC-61131-3 programming software, complete with the standardized motion control function library from PLCopen.

Norway-based additive manufacturing company Norsk Titanium is building what it says is the first industrial-scale 3D printing plant in the world for making aerospace-grade metal components.
