This material is available in a variety of cover materials, which are bonded to the back of timing belts. The cellular rubber materials come in 6-, 10- and 12-mm thicknesses, and can endure temperatures of -40 to 158F, or -40 to 70C. It resists abrasions, cuts and tears, has a high coefficient of friction and very high elasticity. It also has high sound-absorbing and shock- and noise-dampening ability.
