MACHINE VISION SENSOR
Banner Engineering PresencePLUS P4 EDGE 1.3
Price: $1995
http://rbi.ims.ca/4417-510
Banner's P4 EDGE 1.3 uses a 1280 ?~ 1024 pixel imager (1,310,720 pixels) for machine image measurements at ranges from a few inches to several feet, depending on the lens used. The image sensor has two lens position options: in-line (on the end of the housing) or right-angle (on the side of the housing). Measuring only 66.8 mm wide, the in-line model is 136.1 mm long and the right angle model is 124.5 mm long. Units are capable of performing high-speed measuring and positioning at over 10,000 parts per minute or large field of view measuring and positioning up to 1,200 parts per minute at speeds below 50 msec. The sensors target applications involving precision inspections, error-proofing and counting stamped metal parts, and validating the location of objects such as labels or components of an assembly.
DIGITAL LINESCAN CAMERA
Sensors Unlimited Linear Digital Video Linescan Camera
Price: Contact Sensors Unlimited
http://rbi.ims.ca/4417-511
Sensors Unlimited's family of Linear Digital Video (LDV) Linescan Cameras target high-resolution machine vision and spectroscopy. The low noise, high dynamic range (greater than 3000:1), high-line-rate platform works with any of Sensors Unlimited's standard InGaAs linear arrays (from 800 to 1700 nm) or extended wavelength arrays (from 1100 to 2200 nm). Array geometries may be selected with 256, 512 or 1024 pixel counts with a 25- or a 50-micron pitch. The linear digital video linescan cameras have easy interface electronics, work with standard glass optics, and operate at room temperature. In addition, units include Camera Link compatible, 14-bit digital output with continuous or triggered scanning modes, and asynchronous operation.
pH SENSOR
Honeywell Process Solutions Durafet III
Price: Contact Honeywell
http://rbi.ims.ca/4417-512
Honeywell's enhanced pH electrodes have a watertight connection and non-glass and unbreakable packaging. With a response rate that is ten times faster than glass, the units provide tighter process control using real-time pH measurements for improved productivity and product quality as well as reduced consumption of chemicals. The fast response rate allows online and continuous pH measurement eliminating time-consuming grab sampling. The ISFET (Ion Sensitive Field Effect Transistor) technology-based pH sensor has industrial and sanitary versions with an operating range from 0 to 14 pH. In addition, one electrode covers a wide temperature range reducing electrode inventory. Integral temperature compensation provides higher accuracy and high sensor stability resulting in less frequent calibrations. Designed to meet 3-A Sanitary Standards, the Sanitary Durafet III electrode can be inserted directly into the process without contaminating the product.
METAL DETECTION SENSOR
TURCK Uprox+ sensor
Price: Contact Turck
http://rbi.ims.ca/4417-515
TURCK Uprox+ sensor line extends the range of precise detecting materials such as iron steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, and brass. The sensors use a patented multi-coil system that replaces the wound coil found in conventional ferrite core inductive sensors. The multi-coil system provides sensing distances up to 250 percent higher and the flexibility to use a variety of unique housing designs. An integrated predamping protection function reduces the metal-free mounting area in applications allowing traditional flush mounted sensors to be recessed by half a turn for increased mechanical protection. With only a slight reduction in sensing distance, non-flush mounted sensors may be embedded in metal up to the outer edge of the thread on barrel style sensors and on all four sides of rectangular style sensors.
TANK TEMPERATURE SENSOR
Weed Instruments ACCU-TEMP Type MWR
Price: Contact Weed Instruments
http://rbi.ims.ca/4417-514
Designed to measure average tank temperature while determining the level of accumulated water above the product, Weed Instruments' ACCU-TEMP Type MWR sensor targets tanks as high as 150 ft (50m). The continuous indication of water level with the temperature correction allows an accurate calculation of the net barrels. This data allows scheduling water draw-off to assure only saleable product is in the tank. A capacitance sensor determines the level of the water. The averaging temperature curve is either 100Ά copper or 100Ά DIN platinum-characterized copper, while the spot temperature curve is 100Ά copper or 100Ά DIN platinum. Powered by 24V dc, the output of the water interface sensor is 4 to 20 mA analog or Highway Addressable Remote Transducer (HART) signal with accuracy of 6 mm analog or 4 mm digital, over 1000 mm (1m).
LASER MEASUREMENT SENSOR
Omron ZX series
Price: from $1,850 to $2,150 for basic sensing systems, depending on sensor heads
http://rbi.ims.ca/4417-513
Omron's ZX laser measurement sensor system uses a single amplifier unit to support up to 11 different sensing heads. This eliminates the need to purchase unique amplifiers for each sensing head. Eight visible red laser reflective sensing heads and three through-beam heads address 500 mm displacement sensing distance and 2000 mm through-beam sensing distance. For clear or highly reflective applications, diffuse and specular reflective options provide spot or line beams. A comparison of two sensor inputs and other math calculations in the unit's module, allows the unit to activate control outputs for thickness and jam detection measurements. The unit has two numeric displays and keys for inputting and setting values. Target applications include detecting rejects on packaging lines and verifying proper positioning of work pieces on production lines.
New sensors developed to address different industrial applications help manufacturers measure and control a variety of processes. At the top of the list are enhanced machine vision products that include image sensors and photodiode arrays to inspect and verify products. Other measurements can include pH, proximity of metal or other objects, and temperature. These six industrial sensors represent a sample of the sensing technologies developed recently for industrial applications.
