Engineers involved in design projects where fluids dynamics may play an
important role in product viability won't have to wait for the blessings
of analysis specialists before proceeding on some aspects of their design.
Fluent Inc. has released FloWizard, a new product that enables design engineers
to do a first-pass analysis of fluids problems.
FloWizard guides users through the entire flow-simulation process. Engineers
begin by importing CAD models from SolidEdge, SolidWorks, Unigraphics, or
I-DEAS, and then following the instructions in FloWizard to begin the CFD
process.
The software enables collaboration between engineering and CFD experts to
compress the design cycle. Users need to have a basic understanding of fluid
dynamics, and have experience with complex 3D CAD models or CAE meshes. With the
current configuration of the software, engineers can do fluid-flow and
heat-transfer analysis. The product has the Fluent solver underneath.
FloWizard is Fluent's first general-purpose CFD product for design
engineers. The software is compatible with Fluent's flagship product .
Engineers can move files back and forth between Fluent and FloWizard.
The user interface includes a command that says, "Guide Me," rather than
"Help" to overcome engineers' reluctance to ask for Help.
