Bearing

The Nyliner^TM polymer bearing delivers zero clearance with low friction and is a self-lubricating, constant-preload linear/rotary bearing for moderate-load applications including instruments, computer hardware, and medical. Zero clearance is maintained by the pressure exerted by the tips of preloaded curved pads upon the shaft. This constant and equal pressure continues over the life of the bearing. The zero-clearance bearing is produced in different composites to meet the thermal, chemical, and load requirements of specific applications.

Diodes

PIN and Schottky-barrier diodes are available in multidiode configurations in the 4.2 mm² six-lead SOT-363 package. This packaging, with the same outside dimensions as the SOT-323 three-lead package, offers the designer several choices in using high-performance diodes in compact pc-board layouts. Applications include digital cellular phones such as GSM, analog cellular phones, and DECT handsets. Instruments

Models KNM-DCV41, -DCV42, -TC41, and -TC42 are part of the SmartLink^TM Series of compact-network and remote-measurement devices. In addition to their front-to-back isolation, these instruments provide 800V channel-to-channel isolation and ±400V inputs on all channels, with 120 dB common-mode rejection at dc, 50 Hz, or 60 Hz. The design provides current isolation that virtually eliminates ground loops in complex measurement configurations. Speed reducer

The SHF-2UH zero-backlash, high-accuracy harmonic-drive speed reducer features a large hollow shaft and a compact design with an integral cross-roller output bearing and a large hollow shaft through the gear. The unit design is both axially shorter and lower in weight and uses a patented "S" tooth profile. Gear reduction ratios of 50:1 through 160:1 are available in a single stage.

Sensors

Adjustable-field photoelectric sensors allow users to detect objects within a defined sensing field, while ignoring reflective objects located beyond the sensing-field cutoff point. The sensors allow users to define a unique cutoff point for each application, and use a dual-element photodiode and hybrid geometry to achieve reliable adjustment and sensor performance in critical applications. The 10 to 30V dc-powered sensors are available in two models with adjustable sensing cutoff points of either 50 to 150 mm or 125 to 400 mm. The sensing-field cutoff distance is adjusted using the unit's 12-turn slotted-brass potentiometer, clutched at both ends to prevent breakage.

Springs

The INTERCONNECTRIC® line of miniature gold-plated bellows contact springs are for dynamic interconnections. These contacts can be used individually or as pairs in applications where reliability and flexibility are a requirement. These contacts come with either a convex-conical or concave-conical tip, which when paired will allow them to self-align at interconnection. Diameters range from 0.037 to 0.125 inches O.D. The contacts minimize shock and vibration in dynamic applications.

Gate arrays

The MX family of field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) feature ASIC-like performance and is composed of seven devices from 2,000 to 52,000 logic gates. The MX family is based on MultiPlex I/O architecture and provides designers with a choice of pure 5V, pure 3.3V, or 5/3.3 mixed-voltage operation. The family supports true 5V output swings, resulting in better noise margin on the board. The MultiPlex I/O also features selectable 5V PCI-compliant I/Os, providing designers with high-output current for PCI applications or low-power operation where PCI is not required.

Nitrocarburizing process

Salt bath nitrocarburizing (SBN^TM) processes modify the surface of ferrous parts. Results include improved metal hardness, wear properties, corrosion resistance, and fatigue strength. Surface lubricity and cosmetic appeal are also enhanced. Applications include high-speed cutting tools, thin-walled stampings, dies for die casting, cast iron (gray and modular) parts, and stainless-steel components used in sliding and rotating systems. Treatment with the SBN process produces two distinct microstructural zones.

Sensors

SM5712 and SM5752 silicon pressure sensors combine a precision pressure sensor with a signal-amplification ASIC in a single compact dual-in-line package. Calibration and compensation are done before manufacturing. The SM5712 is intended for measurement in the standard 0-5 psi and 0-100 psi ranges. The SM5752 uses a specially designed low-pressure sensing element to measure pressures in a range as low as 0-0.15 psi full-scale.

Bracket

The optical fiber expandable bracket (OFEB) accommodates up to six 3-mm fiber-optic cables housed in small grooves. Each groove holds two 3-mm cables that are snapped in. The components snap- fit into each other to allow for an unlimited number of fiber cables. The material is flame-retardant nylon which is UL 94 V-O rated.

Cylinders

Replacement barrel cylinders increase current-carrying capability for more uniform finishing and shorter cycle times. The cylinders are formed from a single sheet of stress-relieved polypropylene. This one-piece cylindrical design eliminates many of the joints, or stress points, common to hexagonal barrels. The cylindrical barrels also provide more usable volume and greater open area. The design features a closure system for cylinders that eliminates straps and clamps, and a single-point set-down system which allows the barrel to drop into the saddle without drive adjustment.

Monitor

The 19sd95 19-inch monitor is housed in a shallow, 18.1-inch-deep cabinet and fits onto small work surfaces. The flat-square screen in this compact cabinet minimizes distortion at screen edges and corners and delivers accurate full-screen display. The monitor is targeted for visual computing and combines attributes of Invar shadow-mask technology with an electron gun design. Seal profile

Zurcon® Wynseal is a seal profile that consists of a polyurethane seal ring with an O-ring as the energizing element. The design of the seal-edge profile features two external seal edges acting as the primary seal for pressures from both sides, preventing build-up of hydrodynamic pressure. A sealing effect along the plane surface activates the energizing O-ring. Wynseal is targeted for standardization of cylinder construction if efficient low-cost seal elements are needed.

Oil

Aerokroil penetrating oil is harmless to metal and the environment, creeps into millionth-inch spaces, loosens frozen metal parts, and dissolves grease and carbon. The oil contains no HCFCs, 111 trichlorethane, methylene chloride, freon, or any other Class I or Class II ozone-depleting compound. Aerokroil has been approved for use in nuclear plants as a Category I material and has USDA approval.

Power conditioners

MPC portable medical power conditioners provide protection for medical systems from surges, sags, spikes, brownouts, harmonics, SCR notches, and EMI/RFI noise. The MPC Series offers low-leakage current requirements of UL 544 for equipment located in patient areas, and provides identifiable output receptacles to indicate they are safe for hospital-grade use. Relay packages

The PVT422P Series of low-profile, surface-mount packages is part of the company's specialized telecom and general-purpose microelectronic relays (MERs) line and is for the portables market. Applications include Type II PCMCIA fax/modem and data-acquisition cards. The series offers a maximum load voltage of ±400V (dc or ac peak) and a maximum load current of 120 mA per channel at an R_DD(ON) of 35{OMEGA} maximum. Pumps

The DDL Series of double-diaphragm oilless linear pumps includes 230V models targeted for use in Europe, as well as domestically where higher voltages are required. The series also includes lower-voltage ac models and a 12V dc unit. The series features free-air flow as low as 0.39 cfm or as high as 8.6 cfm with pressure to 10.5 psi and vacuum to 12.1 inches Hg.

Cylinders

Twin Rod air cylinders have less than 1/3 degree of rotation, allowing precise rod alignment and virtually eliminating rod-end play for guided linear motion. Cylinders have a rectangular body that simplifies mounting, saves space in multiple applications, and helps achieve precise angles. Coolers

FC Series coolers are compact, non-refrigerated cooling systems that maintain water and non-sulfurized oil temperatures at or above ambient air temperature. Instead of using a continual supply of city water, the closed-loop systems cool and recirculate the water, which reduces water and sewer costs. Five basic units are available to dissipate from 20,000 to 285,000 btu/hour at 30F entering temperature differential between fluid and air. The units are available as complete, self-contained systems with tank, pump, and control panel, or as a basic system with only a coil and fan.

Switches

The P120 Series of rotary-dip pushbutton switches feature built-in protection against erroneous signals. Spurious codes are minimized or completely eliminated because the position of the actuator and the resulting electrical output paths can be visually confirmed before depressing the actuator, which makes the electrical connection and generates the pulse. These 16-position ultra-compact switches are available in binary-coded hexadecimal and complement configurations. Vacuum pump

The STING (Solid Teflon® Internally No Gaskets) compressed-air-driven pump is made from one piece of solid PTFE (Teflon) material without any gaskets. The pump requires neither maintenance nor the replacement of any sealing material, and features no moving parts. The pump's single-material construction means resistance to chemicals and the ability to operate in temperatures ranging from -320 to 392F. Maximum vacuum level is 28.5 inches Hg. Position indicator/transmitter

Card

The MCX-Lite/485 card handles functions beyond that of an industrial communications card, acting as a "PC within a PC" that completely manages the entire communications function. This frees up the PC's regular processor for other tasks, so that an entire PC need never be dedicated to the communications function alone. Tool holders

Indexable-insert rough, semi-finish, and finish cylinder-boring tool holders are available with quick-change, pre-set nose pieces, coolant through spindle, and are compatible with all cylinder-boring machines. Gauges

Simplex GD1^TM and GD2^TM digital gauges feature a self-contained, all-stainless-steel sensor that features full-scale accuracy of ±0.25%, making either gauge targeted for use in lab and field testing applications in systems up to 10,000 psi. Knobs

Ergonomic knobs for applications requiring fast, repetitive actuation are available in two styles. Grip knobs feature an elastomer coating and four large indentations on the side that provide a solid grip during various operations. They can accept a ball-and-spring assembly for click positioning. Lobe knobs allow the palm of the operator's hand to rest comfortably on the slightly concave top. The fingers rest within the lobes on the side of the knob. Both styles are made of fiberglass-reinforced technopolymers.

W30 Series Spiroplan low-horsepower right-angle gearing features wear-resistant steel-on-steel gearing. Sensor ICs

The TK1104X Series of low-power-consumption temperature sensor ICs are for consumer, automotive, industrial, and medical industries. These ICs feature linear output voltages with a scale factor of 5, 6, or 10 mV/C. They eliminate the requirement for linearization circuits in most specialized applications because the temperature coefficient is nearly constant over the complete temperature range. PCI card

The PCI/C42 combines the digital signal process of two 60-MHz TMS320C44 DSP chips with high-speed I/O on one full-length PCI card. This close coupling of DSP and I/O on the PCI/C42 provides users with a complete signal processing solution within a single PCI slot. Fixture system

The Model TR-5-600 fixture system is for assemblies with up to 600 test points and consists of a reusable fixture press used with easily interchanged fixtures. The fixture system has a spring-probe transfer mechanism that makes interchanging test heads simple. The fixture can accommodate a unit-under-test with a test-probe of up to 11.75 × 8.5 inches. Load buttons

The SLB Series of subminiature load buttons are for compression-only applications where space is limited. The matching surface must be flat for accuracy. The loading diameter is slightly convex for accurate load distribution. Software

DesignLink is a bi-directional link between the graphic power of Pro/ENGINEER and AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop and TK Solver. A complete mathematical model for a design can be set up in TK Solver, taking advantage of TK's rule-based declarative syntax and its ability to solve a model multidirectionally. The user can solve the model with input values and lists on-hand, then explore all the relationships among key parameters. Transducer

The Linear Variable Inductance Transducer (LVIT) is for limited-space applications. The LVIT-Z features infinite resolution and can be configured for linear-measurement applications. "RE" Series motors use powerful rare-earth magnets and graphite brushes to maximize torque available in a 26-mm-diameter package. This rhombic moving-coil design provides for long life, low electrical noise, fast acceleration, and high efficiency. The ironless rotor allows for zero cogging and simple, accurate control. Rated at 18W, the motor is 59 mm in length and weighs 150 gm. Different windings are available to match desired speed with available voltage. Integration

Myriad/Documentum Integration version 2.0 provides enhancements to the integrations between Myriad viewing software and Documentum's WorkSpace and SmartSpace enterprise document management systems. Documentum's annotation capabilities are used to store markup files in the Docbase. This means that the Documentum annotation function can be mapped to Myriad as the annotation tool for specific document formats. Touch-entry devices

"X-Y Matrix TouchView®" transparent planar touch-entry devices (TEDs) provide optical clarity for products that incorporate LCDs and other flat-panel displays. The devices integrate two indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated sheets in a membrane construction--one sheet with etched conductive parallel bands along the X-axis, the other with similar lines along the Y-axis, which provides quick, accurate response for more than 1 million cycles.

Spot-curing system

The PC-3 ultra-medium-intensity UV spot-curing system is for the curing of adhesives, sealants, coatings, and encapsulants and delivers UV light concentrated primarily in the UV-A range at an intensity of 2,500 mW/cm². The system features a wand, built-in filter, safety interlock device which shuts the lamp off when the cover is lifted, and a bulb-viewing lens. The lapse-time meter is located on the front of the unit, and the foot- pedal connection is removable.

Sensor

The E2J capacitive proximity sensor offers users a compact sensing system for non-metallic and metallic sensing applications. A sensitivity setting on the amplifier allows fine-tuning for tough detection applications such as those involving vibration, indirect detection, and variations in target material. The separate amplifier also allows remote mounting of the detection head in space-confined sites without complicating setup or compromising monitoring. With optional extension cables available in 3.28- and 6.56-foot lengths, the sensing head can be mounted up to 9.84 feet away from the amplifier without affecting reliability.

Inverter

The S Series of dc to ac inverters measures less than 8 × 16 × 72 mm, and can be specifically designed to meet the requirements of any single-tube backlit LCD. Three dimming options are offered--pulse-width modulated-controlled, resistive-controlled, and voltage-controlled. The S Series features efficiencies as high as 90%. Applications include those where the inverter needs to be mounted near the display, including gas station pumps, video/Internet telephone systems, and hand-held equipment.
