Watertown, MA —C & K Switch Products has made another generous donation of $10,000 to the Design News Engineering Education Foundation (EEF). For the third year in a row, C & K joins a host of other companies in supporting the future of their industry by promoting education.
According to Lisa Blais, General Manager, C & K is excited to continue their support of the program, recognizing that awarding engineers for their outstanding accomplishments and providing financial assistance to the engineers of the future benefits everyone. "We are committed to supporting academic and professional programs that encourage engineering excellence and innovation. We're proud to be a three-year sponsor of the EEF," she says.
Her company has been an industry leader in providing educational assistance for newly graduated engineers and seasoned veterans alike. "For the past six years," she notes, "we have participated in co-op intern programs with two Boston area schools—Northeastern University and Massachusetts Bay Community College. And in Europe, apprentices and college students serve as interns at our offices in France and Germany." On the continuing education front, engineers in their manufacturing facility in Costa Rica complete a year-long training course in which they learn the basics of supply chain management, execution and control of operations, and strategic management and planning of resources. All of their engineers in the U.S. attend a four-day course on electrical contacts, under the sponsorship of the IEEE Components and Manufacturing Technology Society, and they receive on-going training on the technology tools they use, such as PTC's Pro/E CAD/CAM/CAE software.
Now that they have been acquired by ITT Industries, Cannon Switch Products—the world's largest switch manufacturing company—C & K is looking to continue their success and their support of engineers everywhere. C & K's global design team is headquartered in Watertown, MA, while ITT Industries is based out of Dole, France.
