Keithley Instruments Inc. (http://rbi.ims.ca/3850-508) has developed the free Nanotech Toolkit—a set of software tools that can shortcut many measurement tasks by providing common routines used in testing nanotech devices. The toolkit is compatible with Keithley's Model 4200-SCS Semiconductor Characterization System, which offers sub-femtoamp (10-15) current measurement resolution and measurement routines for testing a carbon nanotube-based transistor, a bio-component, molecular transistor, molecular wire, nanowire, and a nanocell.
A new method of modeling how they are created with chemical vapor deposition (CVD) could reduce the cost of carbon nanostructures used for for research and commercial applications, including advanced sensors and batteries.
BMW has already incorporated more than 10,000 3D-printed parts in the Rolls-Royce Phantom and intends to expand the use of 3D printing in its cars even more in the future. Meanwhile, Daimler has started using additive manufacturing for producing spare parts in Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
