Hoping to help jump-start the move to HD Radio, Visteon Corp. is offering HD Jump, a portable radio that docks in automotive and home settings. It brings the clarity of Ibiquity’s digital technology, now being broadcast by more than 1,000 radio stations. An ARM processor from STMicroelectronics, augmented with a Texas Instruments DSP chip that utilizes Visteon’s Mach DSP technology, handles music processing while also offering song title and artist information. The automotive cradle includes an MP3 jack, giving owners of older cars many of the infotainment selections of new high-end vehicles.
