Armstrong Pumps Inc. is adding new functionality to its online product configuratior in the hopes that it will save time. The company will implement RuleStream's RPM (rules-driven product management) software. The added functionality will automate the configuration of 3D components and assemblies and boost data integration across the many software systems the company uses to streamline product development. Armstrong predicts the action will reduce to minutes the generation of engineering deliverables that previously took hours.
Sciaky, provider of electron-beam additive manufacturing (EBAM) services, will start selling these machines commercially in September. The company has used its EBAM 3D printing technology for making very large, high-value, metal prototypes and production parts for aerospace and defense OEMs.
