Mobile equipment applications, such as excavators and refuse trucks, typically call for hydraulic components capable of high speed operation.
To meet that need, Denison Hydraulics recently introduced the P07 (P110 metric) pump to its line of "Premier Series" piston pumps. The P07, like its predecessors in the Premier Series, employs angled inlet and outlet ports. By angling the ports, instead of orienting them in standard-axial fashion, Denison engineers were able to reduce the bore circle diameter of the pump. That, in turn, enables higher speed operation. "When you reduce that diameter, it brings the pump's pistons closer together," notes Bill Johanson, a product marketing manager for Denison. "And when you bring those pistons closer together, the fluid travels less distance, so you have less pressure loss. As a result, it increases the filling capacity, which controls the pump's maximum speed."
The P07 has a displacement of 6.7 cubic inches (109 cc/rev), a continuous operating pressure rating of 6,000 psi (415 bar), maximum intermittent pressure rating of 7,250 psi (500 bar), and a maximum rating of 368 hp. Pump weight is 177 lbs.
With its higher speed capabilities, the P07 is ideal for mobile applications. But it can also be used in situations calling for high cycles and 24-hour-a-day operation, such as steel mills and injection molding machines.
