Project planning
"Clip Select" is project planning software on CD-ROM for designing and documenting rail assemblies. It is intended to allow users to design and label a rail, view and print the rail in a CAD program, and print a bill of materials (to Word®or Excel®) as well as marking and bridging tables. It can also transfer the customized labeling directly into CMS-MARK-WIN software for easier terminal block creation.

Solid state
relays
The company's solid state relays feature semiconductors that operate switching functions. This enables an endless life cycle and reduces power consumption by one-third as compared to electromechanical relays. Designed into the relays is an EMI countermeasure circuit that makes the relays fully EMI-compatible for automotive use. They are designed to meet specifications equivalent to Micro and Mini ISO-type plug-in relay applications.

Serial data
link
GigaSTAR, a universal, high-speed, point-to-point communications link, is based on a new protocol-free and operating system-independent data transmission architecture. According to the company, the chipset provides the world's fastest transfer of serial data, up to 2.64 Gbits/sec, over extended distances of up to 30 meters. By connecting multiple GigaSTAR units in parallel, even greater bandwith can be achieved for demanding Internet/Intranet applications, such as video servers.

Micro-miniature LED
The 3˝digit DPM 340 has a panel cut-out of only 1.5×0.71 inches and an individual digit height of 0.31 inches. The module is housed in a carrier with integral snap-in bezel and is ideally suited to applications where space is at a premium or low light conditions may exist. The module operates from a 5V supply and features auto-polarity, auto zero, and±200 mV full scale reading. A suitable PCB socket strip is provided with each module allowing immediate connection to the target instrument.

Interbus
motor starters
The INTERBUS IBS IP 500 motor starter family has an IP54 degree of environmental protection which allows for placement directly on the process line and eliminates the need for costly enclosures. Both DOL (direct on line) and soft start configurations with control of three phase asynchronous motors up to 7.5 hp at 480 Vac, are offered, controlled either locally or via INTERBUS. Configurations to control one or two motors in reversing or dual speed modes are available.

FET
driver
The radiation hardened (Rad Hard), full bridge, N-Channel FET driver integrated circuit HS-4080ARH is suited for use in distributed dc power supplies, dc to dc converters and motor control applications. The device is immune to single event latch-up, is tested and guaranteed to 300k RADs total dose, and is designed to greatly reduce sensitivity to low dose rate effects. A TLL-level input comparator that can be used to facilitate hysteresis and pulse width modulation modes of operation is included.

Tubular
solenoids
On the small side, a new MED 7×1 tubular solenoid, measuring 7/16 inch in diameter and 1 inch long will fit in tight applications previously too small. On the large side, two new MED 24's are being added as well. Both are 1˝inches in diameter, and 1.7 or 2.4 inches long. Both feature high amounts of force with the selection between them dependent on the stroke length required. The solenoids are designed strictly for dc use, but the design offers an efficient magnetic circuit along with the ease of a bushing mount.

Graphical
programming
SoftWIRE™is reported to be the first and only complete graphical programming package that provides an easy way to combine the speed and ease-of-use of graphical programming with the flexibility and efficiency of writing code in an industry- standard language. Until now, programmers had to use either syntactical or graphical programming, it was very difficult to use both for the same program. All SoftWIRE control blocks are fully COM/ActiveX compatible and are easily interfaced to Visual Basic programs.

Diode
lasers
Consisting of 20 and 35W bars, and 16W fiber array packaged (FAP™) bars, the new 940 nm laser family is ideal for integration into a host of Yb: YAG solid-state laser pumping applications, as well as direct-diode thermal applications in the medical and industrial markets. The laser energy from the FAP is delivered via an 800-µm diameter fiber bundle, which is terminated with a SMA 905 connector mounted on the package enclosure.
