Tough, efficient motors in small packages
These drives are made to be compact, efficient, and durable. The dc motors feature ironless winding and don't have magnetic detent. They have rapid acceleration due to a low moment of inertia, low electromagnetic interference, low inductance and high efficiency. They include the new RE 6, with a 0.3-W assigned power rating, and the older, 8 mm RE 8, with a 0.5-W rating. They both have 0.8 mm ceramic shafts. The brushless EC motor, like the 6 mm, 1.2-W assigned power rating EC 6, uses electronic, not mechanical commutation, making the bearings the most likely component to wear out. It rotates free of detent at high speeds, even at low voltages. The brushless dc external rotor motors, or flat motors, come in two types: the EC 6, at.6 x 2.2 mm and the newer EC 10 at 10 x 2.52 mm.
