Knitted wire gaskets
Ever since the new EMC Directive went into effect, which incorporates an EMI immunity requirement, more design engineers than ever are concerned about EMI gaskets for electronic enclosures. That's a good thing, because developments in gasket technologies continue apace. Cambio International has just introduced a new conductive fabric gasket that, says the company, offers a more cost-effective, higher-performance alternative than other gasket options. Called Thermshield, the gaskets are made of a low-compression-force knitted material that offers shielding up to 105 dB at 105Mhz and provides environmental protection up to IP53. The gaskets become self-terminating when cut, reducing the risk of metal particles or sharp corners. Various shapes and sizes are available. The gasket is available in nickel-copper, silver, and tin-copper and comes with a high-strength adhesive, if required.

Tripe E Corp.'s patented Triple*Ease VME ejector handle more than doubles extraction force for the easy removal of circuit assemblies from a 9U backplane. The solid aluminum handle features a twin-cam construction that reduces torque and allows for 0.2-inch cam travel. Handles are secured with a separate stainless steel pivot pin. The low-profile design permits the handle to lie flush on the front panel for a streamlined look. Plus, the handles add only $4 to the typical unit pricing for 25-49 front panel assemblies. The standard front panels require no assembly and are available in 4HP (0.8 inch), 8HP (1.6 inch), and 12HP (2.4 inch) in heights of 3U (5.25 inch), 6U (10.5 inch), and 12U (21.0 inch). The panels feature durable scratch-resistant powder-coat finish with radiused edges and silk-screening.

Compaq-compatible vertical cabinets
Trimm Technologies' new Data-FrameTM 19-inch vertical rack cabinets are designed to meet Compaq specifications. The cabinets also include a new door design that exceeds Compaq cooling requirements. An angled door design allows flush, side-by-side cabinet mounting, using a bolt-together kit. Unique to Trimm cabinets are heavy, 12-gauge steel rails, permitting a chassis to be shipped already installed in the cabinet. Equipment mounting rails have both 1 cm-sq mounting holes and traditional 0.281-inch round holes. Rails can be reversed to accommodate a specific chassis. All cabinets come fully assembled and designed to fit through a standard, 7-ft-high office door.
