These surface-mount 2D position-sensitive detectors (PSDs), S5990-01 and S5991-01, are designed to provide detection characteristics over a large active area. Their pincushion-type detectors are suggested for use in pointing devices such as computer mice and track balls, as well as for position measurement. The active area is 4×4 mm and 9×9 mm, respectively. Both come in thin chip carrier packages for surface mounting and are automatically mounted with solder reflow.
