Zytouch touchscreen technology from Zytronic (http://rbi.ims.ca/3849-538) and virtual instrument panel software developed by Westland Helicopters Ltd. permit speedy reconfiguration of an entire helicopter instrument panel layout during customer trials, shrinking the time needed for adjustments from days or weeks to only an hour, according to Westland. The 1.5 x 0.6-m touchscreen simulates the helicopter control panel, allowing users to better understand the human-machine interface at an earlier stage, saving project costs and time, and aids documentation.
