Nothing new here. The latest survey from the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago has found a decline in the number of doctoral science and engineering (S&E) degrees earned in 2002. According to data in the 2002 Survey of Earned Doctorates, the 24,500 S&E degrees earned nationwide represent the lowest number since 1993.
