Transformer-isolated intrinsically safe barriers integrate marshalling, signal conversion/isolation, and intrinsic safety in one module. Knife disconnects and testpoints are designed into a base terminal block which accepts pluggable electronics for input and output signals from hazardous and safe areas. The process-interface terminal block is 12.4 mm wide and can be DIN-rail mounted. Bridging is possible using insertion bridges. The galvanically (transformer)-isolated electronic plugs are coded for both hazardous and safe area applications.
The new composites manufacturing innovation center is intended to be a source of grand challenges for industry, like the kind that got us to the moon under JFK. These aren't the words its new CEO Craig Blue used, but that's the idea and the vision behind the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI).
