Bosch Rexroth Linear Motion and Assembly Technologies is pushing the notion of “lean engineering” in the design and building of conveyor and assembly systems for the factory floor.
“Lean engineering is the removal of waste from the engineering process. Lean manufacturing is don’t do anything that your customer isn’t willing to pay for,” said Kevin Gingerich, director of marketing services for BR’s Linear Motion and Assembly Technologies. Lean engineering is the same thing except it applies to setting up conveyor and assembly systems on the factory floor.
In that vein, BR highlighted conveyor design software at National Manufacturing Week in Chicago, IL, which started today.
Newish MTPro software promises to simplify conveyor system planning and layout using 3D tools and electronic catalog technology. The company also showed FMSsoft, an AutoCAD add-on for designing and laying out a factory floor.
BR also rolled out a number of new lean information resources and conveyor products, but it was unclear if these were brand new products at the show – BR did not date its press releases and some of the following products appeared to have been introduced several months ago:
-
A new merge/divert unit for BR’s VarioFlow pallet transport system.
-
DesignLine die-cast coated connectors for polished aluminum framing systems.
-
ED02 pressure regulators for a variety of applications and industries.
-
eLINE Cam Rollers runner blocks promising smooth quiet transport of light loads.
-
Heavy TSplus conveyor for harsh environments.
-
New medical lean manufacturing kit.
-
New medical manufacturing production guidebook.
-
Rexroth online lean manufacturing resource center.
