Relay Ladder Logic (RLL), a graphical programming language based
on relays, is simple to learn and easy to use. While earlier versions of
International Parallel Machines Inc.'s software were DOS based, the company's
latest revision of its RLL graphical editor, EPS for Java™ is operating system
independent. Based on the Java programming environment, EPS for Java achieves
cross-platform execution on IPMI's PLCs. "It's the first platform independent
RLL software package available in the world," says Robin Chang, IPMI president.
With Java working in the background transparently, one copy of EPS will run on
Windows, MacIntosh, Linux, or any other operating system that supports the Java
runtime environment. Check out http://www.ipmiplc.com for more information.
Producing high-quality end-production metal parts with additive manufacturing for applications like aerospace and medical requires very tightly controlled processes and materials. New standards and guidelines for machines and processes, materials, and printed parts are underway from bodies such as ASTM International.
