April 4-6, 2000, McCormick Place, Lakeside Center, Chicago
IFPE® 2000 is well-known as the international exposition for power transmission, including exhibition booths from more than 400 hydraulics and pneumatics companies. But this year—for the first time in the conference’s 14-year history—it will include electrical and mechanical power transmission exhibitors, as well.
Another new addition to this year’s show is Solutions@IFPE, a method for engineers to post their fluid power questions on the IFPE website before the conference starts. The question is forwarded via email to all exhibiting companies. And then, when engineers arrive at the show, they simply stop by the “Solutions” kiosk on the show floor to pick up a printout of their questions, matched to the names and booth numbers of exhibitors with the answers. Check www.ifpe.com/iactive/solutions. asp for more details.
Despite all the changes, IFPE 2000 will still have its Technical Conference, where industry experts can share their latest research and application ideas. This will consist of more than 80 half-hour presentations on design theory and applications, including talks on: microprocessor software, linear motors, design for life, and five common mistakes in hydraulic circuit design.
And the show’s Solutions in Action Seminars will explore current technological advancements that impact the power transmission industry. They will cover topics such as: positioning with air, erasing hydraulic fluid contamination, and understanding reliability.
The show will also feature the HPS MotionSimulator™ (an example of an amusement park motion base), and a pneumatic robot that will greet attendees at the show entrance—with a portion of its pneumatic system exposed.
Valves
This line of 40,000
psi-strength valves, fittings and tubing is designed for applications in water
jet cutting and blasting. The new valves have a 1/8-inch orifice, for higher
flow rates with a standard connection size. Components are constructed of
stainless steel, with a coned and threaded tubing connection of 9/16-inch OD X
1/4-inch OD.

Filters
This off-line filter
package uses recyclable ECOPore elements, for applications in very fine
continuous loop filtration of hydraulic systems as well as for filling and
draining the hydraulic reservoir. The package includes a compact pump/motor unit
with a low noise level (60 dBA) mounted alongside an in-line filter on a
manifold block. Available in stationary (15 to 35 NFSG) or mobile units (15 to
35 NFFG) in three different pump flow rates and three filter
sizes.

Hydraulic coupling
The GlobeSpiral™
coupling is designed for use with spiral wire hoses with ratings from 3,000 to
6,000 psi. The permanent coupling features longer teeth in the ferrule to
provide a more positive, penetrating grip on the wire reinforcement, preventing
hose assembly failure from coupling blow-off in high-pressure and high-impulse
situations.

Piston pump
The P12 (P200
metric) is the latest addition to the manufacturer’s line of variable
displacement piston pumps, featuring quiet operation, high speed, and high
pressure, for applications on mobile, industrial, and marine equipment. The P12
has a displacement of 12.2 cu.inches/rev., a rated continuous operating pressure
of 6,000 psi, and a rated maximum intermittent pressure of 7,250
psi.

Cylinders
The new, C4 series
of metric air cylinders is designed to conform to worldwide standards, including
ISO 6431, VDMA 24562, and AFNOR NFE 49-003. The cylinders are available in bore
sizes from 32 to 100 mm, and with strokes to 500 mm. The aluminum end caps and
barrel are anodized for a longer service life, and a full-barrel length dovetail
slot permits the mounting of low-profile reed or Hall effect
switches.
