CONDUCTIVE FUNCTIONAL POLYMER CAPACITORS
United Chemi-Con developed its SMD NP-CAP PX Series aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a conductive functional polymer as the solid electrolyte. The series offers three vertical (DxL) and one horizontal style with a capacity of 6.8 to 670 µFs. Units deliver extremely low ESR and have low impedance with a guaranteed life of 1,000 hrs, the same as SMD tantalum capacitors. The operating range includes temperatures from -55 to +105C and voltages from 4 to 25V dc. The vertical units measure 6.3×5.7 mm to 10×7.7 mm and the horizontal unit is 8.3×4.6×4.5 mm (L×W×H). The series targets applications in voltage regulators, dc-dc converters, and decoupling applications that require high frequency ranges and low ESR. HIGHER TEMPERATURE TANTALUM CAPACITORS
Kemet developed its T498, a higher temperature tantalum chip series, for applications with operating temperatures up to 150C. The series addresses environmental applications in harsh conditions such as base stations, oil exploration equipment as well as automotive electronics. Units have three termination finishing options including Pb-Free/RoHS-compliant terminations as the standard. The series comes in five ELA standard case sizes with voltage ratings of 6 to 50V and capacitance ranges of 0.47 to 220 µF.
