The Digital Cinema playback server meets the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) JPEG2000 picture quality requirements by playing back digital movies at up to 250 Mbits/sec. Doremi chose Analog Devices' ADV202 codec since it is the industry's only image compression chip that meets the encoding and decoding capabilities required by DCI. The ADV202 codec contains an embedded 32-bit RISC processor system. This processor provides configuration, control and management of the dedicated hardware functions, as well as the generation of the JPEG2000 code stream.
