Henkel Corp. has expanded its line of Loctite ResinAid products for hearing aid fabrication, assembly, and repair. The expanded product line includes UV/visible light curable molding compounds, light cure equipment, instant adhesives, UV silicones, light cure acrylics, and light cure cyanoacrylate adhesives. As for shell materials, 14 low-viscosity and eight high-viscosity compounds are now available. All the materials comply with ISO-10993 standards for skin surface medical devices. A simple new chemical method for repairing and recycling notoriously difficult carbon fiber composites has been developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research. An entire component can be completely recycled, including reclaiming its expensive carbon fibers for reuse.
