Deerfield, FL--If you own a swimming pool, you constantly face yearly maintenance costs--chemicals, leaks, pump, deck repairs, and other sundry items. However, if you own a pool-heater cabinet produced by Peregrine Industries Inc., you will face one less problem. The cabinet won't rust or corrode, and it won't become discolored over years of use. The secret: a protective shield of weather-resistant plastic.
Peregrine's latest cabinets for its Smartemp(TM) pool heater feature a coextruded thermoplastic sheet. The sheet has an outer layer of Luran(reg) S ASA (acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate) supplied by BASF Plastic Materials (Mount Olive, NJ) and an inner layer of ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene). The Luran S ASA gives the cabinet weather resistance, while the ABS adds toughness, strength, and rigidity. This enables the cabinet to resist discoloration under sunlight and, unlike metal, it won't corrode or rust.
Peregrine offers five models of the Smartemp pool heaters with the maintenance-free composite plastic cabinets. The quiet-running units have water-flow rates up to 70 gpm and can heat water up to a toasty-warm 104F.
