High positional accuracy in a zero-backlash gearhead
Built for OEM robotic applications, the SHD Gearhead Size 14 has a 1.5 arc-min positional accuracy and ±5 arc-sec repeatability. It has a high-precision harmonic drive gearing and high-capacity cross roller bearing, with a rated torque of 33 inches-lb and a maximum torque of 310 inches-lb. It has an outer diameter of 70 mm, is only 17 mm long, and comes in 50:1 and 100:1 gear ratios. It has necessary motion control components like the harmonic drive gear and the cross roller bearing, which allows it to be incorporated into the machine housing.
Most cyber attacks could be avoided by adopting a list of Critical Security Controls that were created by the Center for Internet Security. That’s the message from Steve Mustard of the Automation Federation.
How 3D printing fits into the digital thread, and the relationship between its uses for prototyping and for manufacturing, was the subject of a talk by Proto Labs' Rich Baker at last week's Design & Manufacturing Minneapolis.
