Doug Smock

Doug Smock, a contributing editor for Design News, is former chief editor of Plastics World and Purchasing magazines and former editorial director and associate publisher of Modern Mold and Tooling.

Doug began his career as a staff reporter for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. His beats there included the steel industry with stringing to the New York Times. He first began writing about technical plastics in 1986.

Doug is a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers and got his bachelor's degree from Case Western Reserve University. He is co-author of two leading books in supply chain management, including integration of engineering disciplines: "Straight to the Bottom Line" (2005 J. Ross Publishing) and "On-Demand Supply Management" (est. Feb 2007, J. Ross Publishing).

Doug is a resident of Needham, MA. He is married and has three grown children.
