Corroded Pizza Cutter: A Happy Ending
We love stories with happy endings, which we’re delighted to report is the case with Chuck Martin’s aluminum-handled pizza cutter that corroded after a run through his dishwasher.
Not only did he receive the letter below from retailer Williams Sonoma, the manufacturer also is sending him a brand spanking new cutter.
It has a polypropylene handle. <G>

I would call this a minimal solution. Look at all the hassle he has to go through and then he has to package the thing, take it to a shipping place and ship it, probably at his own expense! A truly outstanding solution would be for WS to send a prepaid mailer or, better yet, let him keep it and send him a new one. (I’ve dealt with companies that have done this.)
Why is WS screwing around so much for a retail $18 item? Just send him a new one! No wonder WS stuff is so expensive – it’s not in the product, it’s in their overhead!

I have an aluminum saucepan with a bakelite(?) handle held on with a steel machine screw. I do not know how the screw attaches to the pot as it is obscured by the handle. I have been using it for about 50 years. For the last forty, it has survived a trip through the dishwasher at least once a week. I is still in service, with no known repairs.

Is this difficult? Yes, but it is possible.
