    July 20, 2009

Richard Langner sent this photo he snapped in Sheffield, UK — it gives a whole new meaning toe the term “parallel parking,” noting:

“Try as I may, I just could NOT manage to park within the lines!”

No problem for the Indian drivers - they ignor all lines - and most traffic lights only suggest possible actions to be taken!! They could get six Tata's in there, and four Tuk Tuk's!!

Just a picture of what is left of the parking lot that the new addition (right of parking spaces)to the building sits upon. Cute!

In the '50s a design was shown for a hydraulic powered landing gear, a single wheel perpendicular to the rear axle, behind the differential that could swing the rear end into a parallel parking spot after nosing the front into position. Keeps the compact from zipping into the spot you were going to back your land yacht into in conventional fashion.

The "T.25" is much like the smart car, and having having dedicated HOV or 'small car' lanes would be akin to having motorcycle lanes...mot going to happen, but is the only way that these cars would be safe and accepted by the masses.

Reminds me of one I saw on "Hidden Camera." Car was parked in a standard 2-car garage--right in the middle of the doorway, with the length of the car parallel to the door. Tow trucks called; couldn't imagine how the woman got it in there!

Looks like the previous parking lot striping was not removed or painted over when the new planters were installed. I'd say this is just one stall now.
