Green Engineering: How Important is it?
Would you attend a conference where to learn about green engineering from some of the world’s top experts like Amory Lovins, Dean Kamen, Dell green blogger Al Esser as well as your some peers? On Earth Day (April 22), Design News and Southern Methodist University School of Engineering (SMU) will host a day long conference on just such a topic.
A much sought after speaker, Lovins, educated at Harvard and Oxford, is a world authority on sustainable design with a sheaf of honorary degrees and related honors. Kamen, given his 440 patents on everything from the Segway transporter to medical infusion pumps, is among the most revered and respected engineers alive. He has been compared to Edison and Tesla. Esser has led Dell’s efforts to use sustainable materials in computers and cut their power consumption. And our SMU partner in this conference is Dr. Geoffrey Orsak, is the dean of SMU Engineering and author of Design News AT Stake column.
We’re still expanding this agenda of powerful speakers. We also want to know what you’re doing in terms of green engineering. Just fill out our Call for Papers form. Some of the ideas will be presented at the conference.
I’d love to know a couple of things from you.
1) Where does green engineering rank in your 2009 priorities?
2) Would you attend such a conference? It will be on SMU’s beautiful Dallas campus.
3) What most would you like to learn about green engineering?

Is this difficult? Yes, but it is possible.
