A gadget that jams cell phones

April 9, 2008

Here’s a gadget designed to stop annoying public cell phone calls. This is the perfect tool for teachers who want to stop the under-the-desk text messaging. Also great for bringing blessed silence to the restaurant.

I\'m sure that all who complain about the legality of such a device have never broken a single law. Right? Never changed lanes without giving a signal? Never exceded the speed limit? It\'s my right to have a little piece and quiet instead of someone next to me yelling at the top of their lungs.

Freedom of communication said: "It will be dueling jammers if that mentality takes hold. Then no one can use cell phones." Is there a down side to this result? You can certainly be legally jammed. Theaters and Broadway does it and advertises the fact. So do some upscale resturants.

Cell phone microphones should be more sensitive. That way someone talking in the ______ would be at a normal volume, not too loud.

I have been fantasizing about just such a device for months. All I want is a 10 ft radius! I'd even settle for a little less. I want one!!

Probably not the best thought out project to promote. I don't know about the legality of it but do know that if someone blocks emergency calls it could have tragic consequences.

This is a highly illegal product in the US. I hope your readers are aware of the FCC rules and severe penalties for willful interference to authorized radio communications.

Too bad we live in a world full of so many people who have zero respect for those around them - only caring for themselves. It is such SELFish behavior which hurts those who do have manners and show a little respect and consideration for others. I think the jammer is a fantastic idea, but what happens when tragedy strikes a public location and emergency calls are blocked?

Google “Cell Phone Jammer”. Available off-the-shelf, but somewhat expensive. Law enforcement has legitimate uses for these, such as blocking the communications of drug dealers, terrorists, and potential assassins. Some theatres, particularly in France, are now using them. There are also rumors that some hotel chains use these in their hotels to force patrons to use their expensive land lines. (probably illegal)

What a great gadget. Not for everywhere, but it would be great at concerts and movies, and in fast moving traffic. Now where is any additional information? I am fully aware that such devices are in violation of federal law, but so are a lot of the rights that we have. So now lets just have a bit more information, PLEASE.

OK, this is not a free country. Nothing is free. No country is "free". Most all have laws, so we are not "free" to do whatever we wish, which includes not being free from having your feelings hurt or your cell phone jammed when you are bing a snot nosed asshole when using it. I'm talking the filthy mouthed idiots and folks like the guy mentioned above. All arfe free to use cell phones in a normal fashion, but when that usage starts to impede to rights of others, then its open season. JAM ON! Better to jam it than beat the offending cell phoner into submission.

Ignore it or leave the area. People have rights this is a free country isn't it. Other people can jam you too. It will be dueling jammers if that mentality takes hold. Then no one can use cell phones.

i realize that there are Federal laws which prohibit the use 'jamming' of cell phones. i am also a worker in retail and the level of rude behavior is increasing to epidemic proportions. i cannot tell you how many times I have been left 'hanging" with a customer whose cell phone carries more importance than my time, OR THE TIME OF THE CUSTOMERS STANDING AND WAITING FOR THE IDIOT TO QUIT TALKING TO HIS LONG LOST BUDDY. i am of the opinion that the Kontrl cone of silence should be allowed in public places. if you want to talk on your cellphone, and i have a cone of silence running, i am communicating with the peoplle around me. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO LET YOUR HARMFUL VOCAL EMANATIONS INTERFERE! I should have some rights here as well.
