NI to Present Green Engineering Virtual Event Series During Earth Week

April 16, 2009

Next week National Instruments is presenting a Green Engineering Virtual Event Series exploring topics around green engineering. Design News is the official media sponsor of this event.

This series of five live webcasts will provide engineers and scientists information on how to use the most current measurement and control tools and techniques to design, develop and improve technologies that result in environmental and economic benefits, according to National Instruments.

The series is free and will be hosted live on www.ni.com during Earth Week, April 20-24 from noon to 1 p.m. CDT. A different green engineering topic will be covered each day. Each webcast will be presented by an NI technical expert focusing on real-world application examples and will also include hardware and software demonstrations.

The event kicks off on Monday, April 20 with a keynote presentation by John Hanks, vice president of industrial and embedded product lines. His discussion will focus on the challenges and opportunities driving intense global investment and innovation for environmentally friendly products, technologies and processes. He’ll introduce the concept of green engineering and highlight leading companies around the world that have adopted various techniques and technologies to achieve their goals.

Following the keynote, NI begins its five-day series with the following events: Environmental Monitoring and Measurement Fundamentals, Essential Wind Energy Technologies and Signal Processing Fundamentals, Solar Energy: Essential Technologies for Test, Monitoring, and Control, and Power Quality Monitoring and Analysis.

The five-day event concludes with a closing keynote on the future of green engineering by Dr. James Truchard, CEO and co-founder. He’ll be sharing his thoughts on the future of Green Engineering, where innovations will happen and what technologies can have the biggest impact.
